Larry Bennett, 87, of Vandalia, IL, passed away on December 30, 2024. He was a graduate of Sikeston, MO High School in 1955. He went on to receive his BS in Biological Sciences at Transylvania University in Lexington, KY in 1960. He completed his educational degree at Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, MO. He started his lifelong career as an educator in Griggsville, IL in the early '60's. There he served in a wide variety of capacities as a teacher, coach and an administrator. He went on to receive advanced degrees from Western Illinois University and Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville. In 1980 he accepted a job in the Vandalia, IL School District where he served as school superintendent until he retired in 1994.
