Betty Devore, 72, of Altamont, died at 8:20 p.m., Friday, January 10, 2025 at home.
A private family celebration of life will be held at a later date. Gieseking Funeral Home, Altamont is assisting
the family with arrangements.
Betty R.A. Devore was born Thursday, October 9, 1952 in Vandalia, Illinois to Richard and Georgiana (James)
Budde. She married John W. Devore, Sr. August 29, 1969 at Altamont Lutheran Interparish School. Betty was a
lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. She owned a daycare business for many years, graduated from Lake Land Community College, Mattoon, IL and was then employed at Lake Land as an executive
administrative assistant until retirement.
In addition to her husband of over 55 years, Betty is survived by her children John (Missy) Devore Jr., Elizabeth
Devore, Sara Austin, and Jacob (Christi) Devore; grandchildren Phillip (Kaitlin) Devore, James Devore, Ezekiel
Devore, Madelynn Harris, and Savanna Winnett; brothers Ray Budde, Richard Budde, and Kennet
